Baldur’s Gate 3 has made a significant splash in the gaming world this year, swiftly gathering up several Game of the Year accolades and leaving a lasting impression on those who have ventured into its rich, immersive universe. Yet, even the most celebrated games can have room for improvement. Luckily, Patch 8 is set to address some of the most hotly requested features gamers have been eagerly anticipating.
Let’s dive into what’s on the horizon with Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8, an exciting major update scheduled for early next year. This patch promises to introduce cross-play, a photo mode, and a dozen fresh subclasses, and the great news is that this update will be rolled out across all platforms, including PS5.
According to the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update, cross-play is finally becoming a reality. This feature will allow you to team up with others no matter which platform they are using, whether it be PS5, PC, Xbox, or Mac. If you’re looking to engage this feature, you’ll need to enable cross-play and have a Larian Network account ready.
Another exciting addition is the photo mode, enabling players to capture memories of their in-game adventures. This mode offers versatile camera settings that allow you to focus on particular party members, tweak lens settings, and apply various scene adjustments, post-processing effects, frames, and even stickers, so your snapshots can be as unique as your journey. While it’s flexible during gameplay and cinematics, do note that the camera and lens settings won’t be adjustable during cinematic scenes.
To top it all off, Patch 8 will introduce 12 exciting new subclasses, each brimming with unique abilities, animations, visual effects, summons, and cantrips. Here’s a sneak peek at what awaits:
– Bard – College of Glamour
– Barbarian – Path of Giants
– Cleric – Death Domain
– Druid – Circle of Stars
– Paladin – Oath of the Crown
– Fighter – Arcane Archer
– Monk – Drunken Master
– Ranger – Swarmkeeper
– Rogue – Swashbuckler
– Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
– Warlock – Hexblade
– Wizard – Bladesinging
Before this patch is rolled out, Larian Studios will conduct stress tests, inviting PS5 players interested in this experience to sign up in January. More details will be provided by Larian in their upcoming Community Update.
