Rebecka Coutaz, who has been steering the ship at DICE as general manager, has now stepped up to lead the UK-based developer Criterion as well. According to a report from GamesIndustry.biz, she has embraced the new position of Vice President and General Manager of Battlefield Studios Europe. Criterion has been collaborating on EA’s premiere shooter series since the release of Battlefield 1 in 2016, and they will keep working alongside Motive and Ripple Effect studios in the US.
Coutaz brought her wealth of experience to DICE in November 2021, coming from her previous role as the head of Ubisoft’s Annecy studio. Reflecting on her journey, Coutaz shared, “Since I became part of DICE in 2021, I’ve had the sheer joy of working with a fantastically talented and diverse team. Taking on this broadened leadership role is a huge honor, guiding the future of two legendary studios, each boasting its own unique and rich background.”
She continued, “DICE and Criterion are trailblazers in Europe’s gaming scene, and I aim to inspire the teams to break new ground and innovate to enhance the player experience. Our combined creativity from each studio will not only develop but also expand the Battlefield franchise globally, in collaboration with our partners at Motive and Ripple Effect. We’re shaping the future of Battlefield for the generations to come, and it’s a thrilling moment. I’m really eager to welcome passionate individuals who are ready to embark on this journey with us.”
