We’ve been thrilled to see player engagement and support for the Xbox app on Windows PCs grow so much over the past year. Today, I’m excited to announce that the new Home experience, which has been in testing with Xbox Insiders, is now live for everyone using the Xbox app on Windows PC. This update is designed to streamline the process, making it quicker and simpler for players to track down their favorite games and discover some exciting new titles to dive into.
The Home section is jam-packed with highlights of featured content, helping players stay in the loop with game releases, events, Game Pass content, sales, and more. Players can also explore new curated collections and recommendations, find deals and discounts, and take advantage of the "Jump back in" feature. With this, those using Compact Mode can easily click on any game card and dive straight back into the action from the game’s hub.
While many folks rely on the app to access and launch impressive titles from Game Pass, it’s increasingly becoming an excellent tool for discovering fantastic Xbox games not available through Game Pass as well.
This past summer, we joined forces with partners to incorporate all PC games featuring Xbox elements into the Xbox app. We’re very enthusiastic about what the future holds, as game creators bring more Xbox experiences to Windows PCs. It’s exciting to introduce nearly 400 titles that have been somewhat hidden or unavailable for purchase within the Xbox app until now.
Included in this lineup are numerous games from seasoned Japanese developers like Kemco and Kairosoft. Plus, you’ll find titles like Shovel Knight Treasure Trove by Yacht Club, The Jackbox Party Pack, The Invincible by Double 11, and plenty more.
Moreover, over 100 of these new additions support Xbox Play Anywhere. This feature allows gamers who buy an Xbox console version of a game to also play on Xbox PC, and vice versa — a feature that resonates well with gamers who appreciate universal ownership and synchronized cloud saves. Furthermore, cross-play between Xbox versions on console and PC (and potentially other platforms, depending on developer preferences) remains a well-loved capability.
With the expanding handheld gaming category on Windows, developers have a fantastic opportunity to connect with current and potential players, letting them enjoy their favorite games with their favorite people, anywhere they wish.
If your game’s recently joined the app and supports cross-entitlements, make sure your game’s capabilities section reflects this. That way, we can help spread the word loudly and clearly!
