Tango Gameworks, the well-known Japanese developer, is exploring the idea of crafting a sequel to their 2023 hit, Hi-Fi Rush. In a discussion with IGN, the studio’s lead, Colin Mack, shared that while they’re thinking about a follow-up, they haven’t committed to anything concrete just yet.
“We are considering a sequel positively,” Mack revealed to IGN. “However, we’re not at the point where we can definitively say, ‘This is our next step.’”
Adding to the conversation, John Johanas, the director of Hi-Fi Rush, expressed that the game holds a special place in the hearts of many team members. “Many of our staff have a lot of love for [Hi-Fi Rush], so we feel like we have options. We’re currently at the stage of considering various opportunities,” he noted.
Project manager Kazuaki Egashira chimed in, pointing out that a defining characteristic of Tango Gameworks is their drive to craft fresh and innovative experiences.
“Hi-Fi Rush gained popularity as a new IP, but if it remained unchanged forever, it would eventually lose its novelty,” Egashira explained.
They further emphasized, “I believe Tango Gameworks is all about embracing new challenges. I hope to keep working in a way that places developers at the forefront, ensuring we maintain our enthusiasm and creativity.”
