February 2025 seems to be shaping up as a month with fewer big-name video game releases than expected. One major title got delayed, but there is an intriguing new game on the horizon that just might catch your interest. It’s called Keep Driving, a unique driving RPG where you engage in turn-based combat while collecting various items along your journey.
If you’re not already familiar with this delightfully quirky game, I had the chance to play its demo during the Steam Next Fest last year. I confess, I did succumb to a puddle just once, but the game’s concept is simple yet captivating: embark on a road trip to a friend’s house, all while tackling the challenges of travel and human needs, like food and sleep.
Mark your calendars for February 6, as the full version of Keep Driving is set to launch on PC through Steam, thanks to the Swedish developer YCJY Games, who made this announcement via a cheerful tweet.
They’ve also released a fresh trailer showcasing everything from epic turn-based battles against tractors, sheep, and those pesky potholes, to a sneak peek of new vehicles you can cram with essentials for you, your car, and any hitchhikers you might pick up. As much as I adored the demo’s not-quite-a-Volvo, I can’t deny the allure of cruising around in a pickup truck. Feels like it might spark the interests of my inner Johnny Cash fan!
For now, Keep Driving is a PC-exclusive, but one of the developers hinted at a potential console release in the future, although specifics are yet to be decided, aside from a likely Nintendo Switch version. Maybe they’ll surprise us with a PS2 port, making it easy to switch gears between this and some classic Need For Speed Underground.
While we wait, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the complete version of Keep Driving will capture and enhance the vibes that made the demo so enjoyable the first time around.
