It’s really unfortunate, but Prismatic Evolutions has essentially upended the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). The whole situation has been exacerbated by bots, scalpers, and the inadequate measures taken by the Pokémon Center to prevent this chaos. As a result, cards from this highly anticipated set were snapped up almost instantly—sometimes even disappearing before the public could complete their pre-orders. It’s really a pity, especially since this collection boasts such fantastic cards. Considering all this, it’s not surprising that the resale prices for these special art pieces are through the roof.
Before you start panicking over these skyrocketing prices, it’s important to remember that they will eventually decline. The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) is already moving quickly to produce more reprints to ensure there’s enough stock, and since this set will be rolled out in different boxed forms throughout the rest of 2025, the frenzy will likely simmer down. But, as of now, everyone is in a bit of a frenzy. Let me stress this: don’t fall into the trap of spending ridiculous amounts of money. Unless you’re planning to construct some magical spell with these cards to save your loved ones from a malevolent sorcerer, there’s simply no justification for dishing out hundreds—or in some cases, thousands—of dollars.
On the flip side, if you were lucky enough to snag a pack or two while they were available, and are contemplating selling them to someone who hasn’t heeded my warning, this might just be your golden opportunity. You crafty opportunist, you.
Typically, when I create galleries for a set like this, there’s maybe one card that pushes past the hundred-dollar mark. By the time we’re nearing the end of the top ten, prices usually settle into the twenties or teens. Well, not this time. We’re looking at prices that refuse to drop below two hundred dollars. Yes, it’s right to label this whole situation as absurdly extreme. If we wanted to list cards under $100, we’d have to go down 18 spots on the list.
Please note that all prices are accurate at the time of writing, even though they inevitably fluctuate wildly thanks to the unpredictable blend of capitalism and collective madness.
