Ever since the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 was revealed, it seems like the floodgates have opened for Xbox games finding their way to Sony’s console. There’s been consistent buzz about Marcus Fenix making his iconic clash with the Locust Horde available on PlayStation this year. Recently, it appears this anticipated release will be a collection bundling the first three Gears of War games, and it’s set to hit both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
## Excitement Builds for the Upcoming PS5 Release of the Gears of War Collection Featuring the First Three Games
Notorious leaker eXtas1s has stirred the pot once again, hinting that a Gears of War collection is indeed in development. While they aren’t certain about the announcement date, they insist it will debut on multiple platforms. What’s more, they claim this version will include cross-play capabilities, meaning gamers on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation can battle it out together.
“I can talk about Gears Collection because verifying its existence was a challenge, but it seems real, and I can confirm that, once announced, it will launch as a multiplatform title from day one,” explained eXtas1s, according to a translation by ResetEra member Rychu. “To reiterate, these remasters of the older Gears games will support cross-platform play, allowing gamers to connect and compete simultaneously. However, I haven’t confirmed if there will be a Switch version, but cross-play will definitely be an option on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
Rumors of a Gears of War release on PS5 aren’t new. Earlier in the month, Jez Corden from Windows Central hinted that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition could eventually make its way to Sony’s console in 2025.
As with any rumors and speculation, it’s wise to keep a healthy dose of skepticism. Despite many leakers and insiders aligning in what they’ve heard, game development tends to be unpredictable and could change course unexpectedly. Until an official announcement is made, we’ll just have to keep our hopes up and our fingers crossed.
