While Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 isn’t officially hitting shelves until this Tuesday, the gaming community has already taken note and is voicing concerns about the game. Passionate fans have pointed out several issues with the latest installment in the beloved 4X series, specifically criticizing its complex UI and the notable absence of some features from previous games. In response, Firaxis has promised updates and improvements. Meanwhile, one dedicated player, who got a head start with early access, has already created a mod to tackle some of these missing elements, showing just how committed the fan base is to enhancing the game experience.
Enter the Simple UI Adjustments mod by Sukritact, which brings a breath of fresh air to the game’s interface. This mod provides handy tooltips when hovering over tiles, giving insights into wonders constructed on specific spots. It also includes small plot yield icons on undeveloped tiles and lets you start diplomacy just by clicking on the city banners of other civilizations. While these changes may seem modest, they significantly reduce the need to constantly consult the Civilopedia or wade through numerous menus, streamlining gameplay effectively.
Although Civilization 7 isn’t widely accessible yet, meaning there isn’t a Steam Workshop page for easy mod downloads or management, getting this mod up and running isn’t too complicated. All it takes is dropping the appropriate folder into your Civ 7 mods directory, typically found at “{user}\AppData\Local\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier’s Civilization VII\Mods”. Simply check the Mods menu under “Additional Content” to ensure everything’s enabled correctly.
Even though early access only commenced on February 6, Sukritact is already on the roll. They’ve whipped up another mod for Civ 7, bypassing the civilization unlock requirements usually tied to your leader choice and specific criteria within certain ages. This fast-paced modding enthusiasm means that even though the game didn’t ship with features like renaming cities or units, we can be hopeful. With the speed at which dedicated fans are working, we likely won’t be left waiting for long before more features are added back into our gameplay experience.
