The year 2025 has delivered a treasure trove of new video games, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 undoubtedly stands out among them. This highly anticipated sequel to the original 2018 open-world RPG transports players back to the medieval landscapes of Bohemia, thrusting them into the life of a young orphan caught in the throes of revenge and a relentless civil war. The game is a masterful blend of thrilling adventure, poignant loss, and moments of humor, all woven into some of the most captivating RPG mechanics I’ve encountered. Earlier this week, a heartwarming gesture by fans made it accessible for even more gamers to experience it, free of charge.
The spark ignited on the r/kingdomcome subreddit with a heartwarming post titled “Can’t afford the game? I’ve got you.” This generous offer came from user u/verdantsf, who shared a personal story of overcoming hardship thanks to the kindness of a friend.
“A while back, I was facing tough times,” shared u/verdantsf. “With finances stretched thin and little support in a new town, gaming was a distant dream. But when a gamer friend stepped in, delving into virtual worlds offered a crucial escape from stress and had a profound impact on my mental health. Now that things are brighter, I’d like to return the favor.”
True to their word, u/verdantsf extended the gesture by gifting the first five respondents with a $60 copy of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and as the responses poured in, five more followed suit.
“Whatever challenges you’re facing, I hope losing yourself in Henry’s universe offers the same solace games gave me,” they added. In total, $600 worth of KCD2 was handed out, thanks to their kindness.

But the story didn’t end there. Inspired by u/verdantsf’s actions, others joined the cause, including u/Flando1, who urged fellow enthusiasts to dive into the comments and spread the generosity.
As momentum built, it blossomed into a full-on gifting extravaganza, with copies of the game being shared amongst 30 additional players who may have otherwise missed out. Notably, as the chain of goodwill grew, even the game developer, Warhorse Studios, took notice. They graciously sent u/verdantsf a KCD2 Collector’s Edition and a fresh batch of games to give away.
In total, if each participating donor shared just one copy, the community’s efforts have brought over $2,000 worth of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 into the hands of eager gamers.
“As I scroll through the comments, witnessing fellow members stepping up to support our gaming community is amazing,” wrote u/verdantsf in a subsequent update. “A huge thank you to the 30 individuals who made these gifts possible. Teamwork truly makes the dream work!”

This spontaneous gesture of giving is a breath of fresh air and not something we see every day. I genuinely wish everyone who received a copy enjoys the game as much as I have. In my review, I hailed it as “an undeniable triumph from Warhorse Studios,” with its expansive open world filled with a wealth of engaging content, revamped combat, and more. It’s a strong contender for Game of the Year 2025.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG), and PS5. It’s certainly one of the year’s standout titles for both Xbox and PC. If you have a fondness for RPGs, consider snagging it for yourself — it’s currently a steal at $47.39 on CDKeys.
