In a recent conversation with the BBC, Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki addressed concerns about the platform’s safety for children. He advised that if parents are worried about potential risks, they might consider steering their kids clear of Roblox altogether.
Baszucki, who co-founded the popular online gaming platform, emphasized that the company takes every negative incident on the platform seriously. “If you’re uncertain about it, maybe it’s best not to let your kids play Roblox,” he suggested, acknowledging the idea might seem a bit unexpected but reinforcing the importance of parental discretion.
When questioned about reports of troubling interactions and misconduct on Roblox, Baszucki was candid about the company’s stance. “We believe that even a single negative experience is one too many. We actively monitor for bullying and harassment, implementing strict filters to prevent such behaviors,” he explained. “Our commitment to safety extends to collaborating with law enforcement if necessary.”
These comments come on the heels of increasing scrutiny over safety concerns, as malicious actors attempt to exploit the platform. In response, Roblox has been working hard to enhance its child protection measures to address and mitigate these issues.
