Acer has just rolled out an impressive collection of six new models in the Radeon RX 9070 series, including both base and overclocked (OC) versions, with some models boasting boost clocks as high as 3.1 GHz.
Today, Acer took the wraps off their fresh lineup of RDNA 4 GPUs, showcasing their latest BiFrost and Nitro editions. Although Acer isn’t typically seen as a front-line partner for AMD, they’re stepping up with this new range, offering a total of six models, giving us three versions for each series.
This new lineup consists of two Nitro models for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, along with a BiFrost edition for each. The BiFrost cards stand out for their top-tier aesthetics and advanced cooling technology, while the Nitro cards focus on delivering solid performance at an attractive price point for mainstream users.
Let’s dive into the details, starting with the BiFrost series. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB model showcases a sleek design, featuring a triple-fan setup framed with stylish silverfish accents around the central fan. These advanced FrostBlade 4.0 fans employ a unique counter-spin system aimed at optimizing heat dissipation. The card itself stretches about 295 mm long and fits in a 2.5-slot space. With a factory overclock that pushes it to 3.1 GHz, the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC is geared up for top-notch gaming sessions.
The BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16GB shares a similar design, though switches to two 8-pin power connectors—compared to the XT’s three. It’s intriguing that both models maintain a power rating of 340W, even though the RX 9070 typically draws less power. Technically, with only two 8-pin connectors and a PCI-E x16 slot, it can handle 340W, but its overclocking potential doesn’t quite match the XT OC version.
Switching gears to the Nitro series, Acer presents both OC and non-OC models for each RX 9070 card. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC mirrors the BiFrost with a three-fan configuration, up to 3.1 GHz boost clock, and a 2.5-slot size, complete with three 8-pin plugs and a 340W TDP. Meanwhile, the non-OC variant runs at 304W and retains the triple 8-pin setup, capable of hitting up to 2970 MHz in burst and 2.4 GHz in game mode.
Continuing with the Nitro lineup, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC features clock speeds up to 2.7 GHz, with the non-OC model reaching 2.52 GHz. Here, the OC model has a TDP of 245W, while the standard card sits at 220W, both housed in the same design.
Acer hasn’t disclosed full pricing for the entire series yet, but they’ve pegged the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB at a steep $829.99. Given that, the BiFrost edition is expected to come in at an even higher price point. As for availability, they’ve slated the US release of the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC for April.
