At long last, Bethesda has given a nod to the much-anticipated remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. After years of whispers and rumors swirling about, fans of the game are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. This beloved installment, known for its quirky, potato-faced NPCs, is set to make its grand entrance during a reveal stream scheduled for tomorrow, April 22nd.
Who would’ve thought? This news came out of nowhere, right? I mean, it’s not like hearsay surrounding the remaster started as early as 2023, or that there was any sort of leak last week, not to mention the official Xbox support account spilling the beans on a release date.
Regardless of prior leaks and rumors, Bethesda has made it official. They’ve announced a stream for the big reveal, and it’s happening on April 22nd. You can catch it live right here, as it kicks off at 4 PM BST, which translates to 11 AM ET, 8 AM PT, and 5 PM CEST.
With all the buzz and speculation, there’s a solid chance Bethesda might pull a fast one and drop the game right during the stream. They’ve quite cheekily named this event ‘All will be revealed….’ so you never know what surprises await.
So, here we are on the cusp of discovering the new tweaks and updates that Virtuos Games and Bethesda have implemented to refresh 2006’s most notorious spooky door closing simulator—complete with the best Elder Scrolls DLC in my opinion. Shivering Isles, anyone? Absolutely worth the hype.
But hey, if the remaster doesn’t float your boat, the original Oblivion isn’t going anywhere. It’s still there for you to dive back into, quirks and all. Plus, for the PC community, the ambitious modding project Skyblivion is still chugging along, promising its unique take on Oblivion.
The project’s lead shared some heartfelt thoughts with us post-leak, saying, “This all started and continues purely out of passion. I’ve gained incredible friendships, experience, and a newfound career in the gaming industry thanks to this endeavor.”
So, what’s your plan? Are you gearing up to dive into Oblivion and relive those 2006 memories all over again with the remaster? We’d love to hear your thoughts below!
