Yesterday, Sony pulled back the curtain on the PS Plus lineup for December 2024, a part of the celebratory events for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. Suffice it to say, players aren’t exactly jumping for joy over the selection. This upcoming batch of Essential games will also see the return of a title that made an exit from PS Plus Extra earlier in the year, meaning many subscribers have already had their turn with it.
Fans Believe PS Plus December Offerings Fall Short of 30th Anniversary Expectations
The lineup revealed on the big day includes It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem. Notably, It Takes Two already made an appearance on PS Plus Extra before its removal.
The disappointment isn’t necessarily with the quality of the games themselves, as is clear from the wealth of feedback on the PS Blog, gaming forums, and social media platforms. Rather, players feel let down by the lineup in light of the special occasion.
“This anniversary feels like one of the most corporate, lackluster celebrations I’ve seen, especially for such a milestone,” lamented one subscriber. Another chimed in, saying, “Today’s the first day I’ve felt compelled to comment on how disappointing this is.” People are typically not fond of airing grievances on blogs, but as one player stated, “This is outright disappointing.”
While the full slate for December 2024’s PS Plus Extra and Premium has yet to be disclosed, Premium subscribers have some hope on the horizon with the promise of three cherished classics and a game trial.
