Hello everyone! I’m Juan Martinez, the executive producer at Fatshark, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide team. I’m here to extend a warm welcome to all PlayStation enthusiasts who are eager to dive into the grim and gritty co-op action we’ve crafted just for you.
Today marks a special day as we’ve opened up access to Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for those PS5 players who pre-ordered the Imperial Edition. We’re absolutely delighted to reveal that the game will officially be available to all PS5 users on December 3.
Since its debut on PC back in November 2022, Darktide has been a labor of love. We’ve been relentless in expanding the game, delivering nine major additions along with more than 25 updates packed with new content and enhancements. Our PS5 release aligns perfectly with our 10th major, free update: Grim Protocols. And trust me, we’ve got plenty more exciting content lined up for the years to come!
#### Fast-paced Combat, the Fatshark Way
Creating a game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been a dream of ours for ages, and with Darktide, we’ve turned that dream into reality. This four-player co-op action game puts you in the shoes of a conscripted convict, known as a Reject. You’re enlisted by the Inquisition to reclaim Tertium from swarming hordes of Chaos. You’ll need to master both melee and ranged combat, a sophisticated hybrid system we’ve fine-tuned to perfection.
#### Bringing Darktide to PS5 and PS5 Pro
As we were developing the PS5 version of Darktide, our goal was to create the ultimate experience for players. We invested a lot of resources into optimizing the game for PS5’s capabilities. PS5 owners can choose between Performance mode, which offers a smooth 60FPS at 1440p resolution, or Quality mode, which delivers 30FPS at a stunning 4K. Meanwhile, for those with a PS5 Pro, we’ve utilized PSSR technology to ensure a consistently smooth 60FPS at 4K resolution.
We didn’t stop there; we delved deep into the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense wireless controller. Our aim was to make the DualSense controller feel like a seamless extension of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Whether you’re firing explosive rounds with the iconic Boltgun, enjoying the pinpoint accuracy of an energy Lasgun, or channeling psyker powers through a Force Staff, each swap in gear offers its own distinct tactile feel.
Firing automatic weapons has reached new heights with the DualSense’s haptic rumble and trigger effects. Feel the triggers react with each shot as the rumble vibrates through your hands. Plus, as your ammo count dwindles, those triggers become more insistent—giving you a heads-up that you’re about to run out. And when it comes to melee, there’s nothing quite like the sensation of the Chainsword buzz as it slices through heretics and demons. We can’t wait for you to experience all this for yourself when it launches on December 3.
#### Unlock Your Potential
To make you feel fully immersed in Tertium, we’ve packed our character creation with plenty of options. Customize your Reject’s class, appearance, backstory, and voice to establish a personal connection within this conflict-ridden world.
Each class offers its own detailed talent tree, allowing you to tailor your gameplay style across three main domains—or sub-classes—and everything in between. We’ve also expanded player choice through an Itemization overhaul, letting you build expertise in your preferred weapon families, boasting over 40 unique options.
#### An Ever-evolving Game
The December 3 release marks both our PlayStation debut and the rollout of our 10th major update: Grim Protocols, chock-full of fresh content. Here’s a sneak peek at what awaits!
We’re introducing an exhilarating new endgame mode named Havoc, designed to challenge even the most veteran operatives. Get ready to push your limits, but first, you’ve got to master Tertium.
A new mission enters our roster of over 20 tasks, inviting Rejects to explore the wild and bustling Carnival—a hotspot of entertainment and shady pastimes.
Plus, we’re adding three new weapon families, allowing you to mow down foes with the formidable Two-Handed Force and Power Swords, as well as the Ogryn Heavy Stubber.
Stay sharp for our official PS5 updates to remain in the loop on the exciting content rolling out in 2025. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide officially lands on PS5 this December 3. Welcome to Tertium, Rejects. May you conquer the battles ahead. For the Emperor!
