EA Sports FC 25 has launched a significant update named First Frost, just in time for the festive season. The update introduces several changes aimed at enhancing the game and addressing player feedback.
If you’ve been around EA Sports games for a while, you know they’re no strangers to rolling out major updates around this time of the year. Remember last year’s EA Sports FC 24 holiday update announcement featuring those peculiar red and blue non-human characters? Sadly, those quirky robo-ballers seem to have hung up their boots this year, unless there’s a surprise reveal later on.
In their pitch notes, EA emphasizes that First Frost aims to tackle community feedback across various gameplay aspects, while also introducing new strategic elements and personalization options. At the forefront of this update are two new FC IQ player roles, along with some fresh focuses to spice up existing ones. The “Classic 10” CAM lets you control a traditional attacking midfielder who anchors your offensive play. Meanwhile, for the defensive-minded, the “Wide Half” CDM steps in to patrol the flanks, contributing to build-up play and solidifying your defense.
Other fresh additions include new Ultimate Team player items, as well as Max Tactics and Winter Match modes for UT friendlies. Plus, two new celebratory moves inspired by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dusan Vlahović are now available, alongside a festive-themed main menu that adds a touch of holiday spirit.
The update doesn’t stop there. EA has also made a host of changes in response to what’s been buzzing in the gaming community. For instance, they’ve reduced Ultimate Team Rush matches from seven to five minutes. General gameplay tweaks include refined defensive logic to fend off early attacks, AI attackers realizing their offside position more promptly, and some of the skill moves becoming less punishing for those with two-star skill ratings.
Looking ahead, EA is already exploring updates focusing on corner scoring, first-time power shots, lobbed through passes, and jog dribbles. In addition, there are tweaks and additions in career and club modes, such as new double XP events and youth player development enhancements. If those areas interest you, it might be worth diving into the full notes to get the complete picture.
