Thought you were gearing up to catch Star Wars: Skeleton Crew on Disney Plus this December 3? Well, it seems like plans have shifted a bit, courtesy of Disney’s latest update.
Disney has decided to get fans exploring the Star Wars universe a tad earlier than the original schedule. They’ve announced yesterday that Skeleton Crew will now make its debut on their streaming service a day ahead of plan, landing on December 2. While moving it up by just one day might seem like an unusual choice, it’s definitely Disney’s call. But here’s the fun part: the premiere is kicking off with two episodes, so if the first one reels you in, you’re in luck—you don’t have to wait long for more. They also revealed the lineup of directors for the season’s eight episodes, and you might recognize a few names.
Leading the charge is Jon Watts, who helmed the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy. He’s directing both the opening and closing episodes. Episodes two and three are in the hands of David Lowery, whose diverse filmography ranges from last year’s Peter Pan & Wendy to critically acclaimed flicks like The Green Knight and A Ghost Story. Episode four sees The Daniels—Oscar winners famed for 2022’s breakout Everything Everywhere All at Once—taking the reins. Meanwhile, episode five is directed by Jake Schreier, set to soon release the Marvel film Thunderbolts.
Episode six is managed by Bryce Dallas Howard, not unfamiliar to the Star Wars franchise given her work on The Mandalorian. For episode seven, Lee Isaac Chun steps in. He’s also been part of The Mandalorian team and was behind one of this year’s major hits, Twisters.
Skeleton Crew’s story revolves around “four kids who stumble upon a mysterious find on their seemingly safe home planet, only to get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Their quest to return home, filled with unexpected allies and foes, promises to offer them a grander adventure than they ever expected.” Jude Law makes an appearance as perhaps the most recognizable face in this project, which seems set to capture the adventurous spirit of a classic Spielberg film.
