Virtuix recently unveiled a captivating new addition for their Omni One VR treadmill system: an immersive tourism app that lets users traverse some of the world’s most famous sites, all from the comfort of their homes.
Launching on March 6th, TREKS pairs engaging video footage with actual physical walking, allowing you to wander through celebrated locales such as the Grand Canyon, take a leisurely stroll in Central Park, or explore the historic corridors of Riyadh’s Fort Masmak. This unique experience comes courtesy of Virtuix Studios, the company’s in-house development team, and will be available exclusively on the Omni One Game Store for $30.
Upon its release, TREKS will feature an initial lineup of four prominent destinations:
- Grand Canyon: Feel the grandeur of the cliffs as you tread along its trails.
- Niagara Falls: Witness the sheer power of the falls from both the American and Canadian perspectives.
- New York City: Immerse yourself in landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Saudi Arabia: Dive into the history of Fort Masmak and admire the exquisite architecture of Al Rajhi Mosque.
Virtuix Studios isn’t stopping there; they plan to roll out additional locations as downloadable content in the months ahead. These updates promise to bring even more iconic landmarks, fascinating historical sites, and breathtaking natural wonders to your Omni One. On top of exploring, the company highlights that a one-hour session in TREKS can burn about 500 calories, blending adventure with fitness.
"With TREKS, experiencing these destinations goes beyond mere viewing—you’re actively moving through them," explained Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. "It’s a fantastic way to stay active while witnessing some of the planet’s most renowned places. The combination of fitness and adventure is truly brought to life with TREKS."
The Omni One system itself, priced at $3,495, comes complete with the renowned VR treadmill and a tailor-made Pico 4 Enterprise headset. This setup supports native apps through its own internal system or can connect to a VR-ready PC, either wired or wirelessly.
Last month, Virtuix expanded the Omni One’s library to include over 55 games, with new titles such as Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius joining the lineup. Additionally, the system’s compatibility with SteamVR games is made possible through the Omni Connect PC Driver. This feature allows users to create custom controls and fine-tune settings for games not initially designed for immersive walking experiences.
