Sanzaru Games, the talented creators behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, have just rolled out the final content update for their Quest-exclusive adventure, Asgard’s Wrath 2 (2023). With this chapter closed, they’re eager to dive into their “next big thing.”
Reports from MIXED indicate that Sanzaru has wrapped up its latest and last substantial content update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, the sequel that expanded upon their groundbreaking Rift-exclusive original, Asgard’s Wrath, released in 2019.
The finale is marked by ‘The Long Winter,’ the twelfth and concluding ‘Cosmic Event,’ which launched last week. This event brings a fresh batch of monthly, time-limited challenges that allow players to earn points and unlock unique cosmetics.
Debuting in late 2023 and available for Quest 2 and newer systems, Asgard’s Wrath 2 offers a meaty campaign surpassing 60 hours. Importantly, this doesn’t even account for the hours you might spend immersed in the monthly Cosmic Events.
“This marks the end of our significant updates for Asgard’s Wrath 2,” shares the Community Manager on Sanzaru’s Discord. “Moving forward, you’ll see fewer updates; our focus will shift primarily towards addressing major issues and bugs. We wanted to be transparent: there are no plans for developing new content for Asgard’s Wrath 2, despite community interest.”
As the studio looks ahead, they’re excitedly shifting gears towards a new, undisclosed project. “We’re working on some truly AWESOME things and can’t wait to reveal our next big endeavor to our community,” they announced.
While it’s unclear what exactly is coming next from Sanzaru, their trajectory has been firmly aligned with Meta’s (formerly Facebook’s) commitment to exclusive XR headset content since their acquisition in 2020. With two massive, exceptionally polished RPGs under their belt, it’s safe to assume they’ll continue to deliver high-quality experiences in this realm.
