The past few weeks have been rough for Strategist players in Marvel Rivals. Healing is already a challenge, but it’s even tougher when you have Spider-Man swooping in from nowhere to knock you back to your starting point. In this meta, where the quickest heroes are also the mightiest, Strategists are pulling extra shifts just to keep their heads above water. However, there’s a glimmer of hope with the latest mid-season patch.
In a Dev Talk update on Friday, NetEase addressed the ongoing support struggle that’s persisted since season 2 kicked off. This season has highlighted highly mobile heroes, like Iron Fist, putting Strategists under immense pressure. They’ve had to carefully watch their teammates’ health and meticulously manage their abilities while staying alert on the battlefield, as noted by NetEase.
To ease this burden, NetEase plans to boost their damage output to make them more daunting, hence broadening team strategies. Additionally, Groot and Captain America will be easier targets, and that pesky Spider-Man uppercut will be more challenging to pull off.
The patch, expected in early May, will also introduce Ultron to the lineup. Based on official footage, Ultron will join as a Strategist.
Considering NetEase’s pace in adding new heroes, these reactive updates might be crucial for maintaining balance. The company aims to be careful with adjustments, preferring small tweaks over drastic measures. Empowering support players is a great starting point, offering them a fighting chance without spoiling the thrill for those designed to challenge them.
