Cards & Tankards, the popular social VR card game that doesn’t cost a dime to play, is gearing up for a new expansion release later this month. Brought to life by Divergent Realities, this engaging card game is accessible on both flatscreen platforms and VR headsets, making it a hit for a wide range of gamers. In their latest announcement, the studio revealed that the new ‘Ashes of Ur-Enku’ expansion will be rolling out, bringing with it 50 fresh cards, diamond animated card variants, a slew of new cosmetics, an updated season pass, some balancing tweaks, and rank resets.
“Imagined in the wild and mysterious realms of Ur-Enku, this expansion tracks the Plundering Guild’s thrilling escapade. They’re employing a risky method known as fire-hunting to unveil ancient Dwarven archives buried for decades in thick underbrush. These neglected records detail experiments with Aether, a powerful and primordial energy—a journey from which, unfortunately, only one explorer is destined to return,” the studio elaborated.
Since its launch almost two years ago, Cards & Tankards has seen a steady stream of updates. The latest, which hit in December, was Version 2.4, packed with widespread fixes. Prior to that, Version 2.3 shook things up by rebalancing over half of the game’s cards. Last March, players were treated to ‘The Crusade of Sun & Stone’ expansion, and by the end of 2023, a ‘Ranked Mode’ was introduced.
Currently, Cards & Tankards can be enjoyed on the Meta Quest platform, Steam, and Google Play. Gamers can dive into the excitement of the Ashes of Ur-Enku expansion starting March 27.
