Since the triumphant debut of Iron Meat in September, the creative minds at Retroware have been diligently crafting the game’s future, introducing exciting new updates to this modern retro masterpiece!
Kicking off with a major update available on Xbox, fans are treated to a delightful array of fresh content that promises to enhance their gaming experience.
### Mirror, Mirror
One of the most eagerly anticipated features is Mirror Mode. This innovative option lets players tackle levels from a new perspective—running to the left instead of the usual right. It might sound simple, but inverting the x-axis completely transforms every encounter, making fights with enemies and bosses feel fresh. This mode unlocks after completing the game once at any difficulty level.
### Red Rapid Fire
Another thrilling addition is the automatic Supercharge upgrade, marking the third tier of weapon enhancements. With Supercharge enabled, players’ projectiles will shift to a vibrant red, regardless of their initial blue or green color. This applies even if your guns are fully upgraded—grab a third copy, and see your bullets light up in supercharged red!
### My 1UPs, Thank You
An awesome perk in this update is the retention of extra lives. Any surplus lives gathered during a level carry over when starting the next one. Now, finishing a level with more lives than you started doesn’t go to waste–a welcome change for players striving for perfection.
### Visual Enhancements to Level Backgrounds
We’ve revisited some level backgrounds to sprinkle extra details that enrich Iron Meat’s story. Expect to see exciting additions like a helicopter strafing the Meat monsters in the Forest level, spikes on the Base midboss, pilots featured in the credits, and explosive moments on the Train—with Meat meteors, no less!
### Other Updates
On top of some backend bug fixes, we’ve also made a few tweaks to ensure smooth gameplay:
– Buffed default damage for “E,” “U,” and “M” guns.
– Added more Meat in different sections of the Moon Base.
– Clarified MI-24 helicopter boss battle patterns.
– Adjusted various level sections to be more player-friendly, like making Meat worms on Base killable upon appearance and slaying Meat Mouth Doors on Train.
We’re thrilled to give players a glimpse of what’s to come for Iron Meat and excited for future updates packed with more exciting content. Dive into Iron Meat today for a nostalgic yet refreshing shooter adventure!
