According to recent updates, the release of NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 series GPUs is facing a delay. Initially slated for an earlier launch, these GPUs are now expected to hit the market a few weeks later than anticipated.
Just as the GeForce RTX 5070 is about to make its debut, there’s buzz about the setbacks hitting the new RTX 5060 series. The initial word was that these GPUs would hit the shelves by March, available for buying in April. However, the latest reports suggest that these dates have been moved back even further.
While the specifics behind these postponements remain hazy, it’s confirmed that NVIDIA’s board partners have been briefed about the situation. Although NVIDIA has yet to officially address the release of the RTX 5060, there’s a strong possibility that this information holds water. Past whispers of bugs and supply hurdles surrounding the RTX 5060 series have surfaced, although NVIDIA hasn’t officially verified those claims.
NVIDIA has sent out internal communications to all their Authorized Integrated Circuit (AIC) partners, informing them that the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 GPUs will face delays. The release of the RTX 5060 Ti, with its 16GB and 8GB products, is expected to be pushed to mid-April, while the RTX 5060 series is likely to see a release pushed to mid-May. Exact timelines are pending further announcements from NVIDIA.
The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is now eyeing a mid-April launch, with the GeForce RTX 5060 following in mid-May. It’s anticipated that both variants of the RTX 5060 Ti will debut together. However, even NVIDIA’s board partners are still waiting for precise launch dates to be nailed down.
In the meantime, there’s speculation that the RTX 5060 series release might align with AMD’s RX 9060 series launch. AMD’s RX 9060 lineup, including the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 cards offering both 8GB and 16GB variants, positions them as direct adversaries to NVIDIA’s 5060 Ti line. Although the launch date for AMD’s series remains under wraps, it is speculated to arrive within the second quarter.
The upcoming GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is designed to succeed the RTX 4060 Ti, packing 4608 CUDA Cores, with options of 8/16 GB GDDR7 VRAM, and a power consumption of 180W TDP. The RTX 5060, set to replace the RTX 4060, will boast 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 150W. However, a recent leak hinted at a 12 GB VRAM variant of the RTX 5060, which has yet to receive an official nod. Should this materialize, it may give NVIDIA an edge over the RX 9060, which is expected to offer only the 8 GB version.
