In an exciting development at CES 2025, NVIDIA revealed that its GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform is expanding its reach to include Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3 and 3S, and Pico headsets.
However, don’t get too excited just yet—this isn’t about diving into VR cloud gaming or playing VR-specific games. Instead, it’s about accessing standard games that can already be enjoyed on platforms like Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and various handheld gaming devices.
NVIDIA has shared that folks using Vision Pro, Quest 3/S, and Pico headsets will soon be able to stream games through GeForce NOW directly from their browsers. This exciting update, version 2.0.70, is set to start rolling out later this month.
Once this update hits, players can look forward to “all the bells and whistles” NVIDIA is known for, such as ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS. The streaming service on VR headsets will feature gamepad-compatible titles that can be enjoyed on a massive virtual screen.
One of the great things about NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service is that it offers free access with some limitations, and you can opt for premium access with daily passes or monthly subscriptions if you’re after higher quality streaming. The vast library promises over 2,000 titles ready to be played.
NVIDIA isn’t breaking new ground in offering cloud gaming to standalone VR devices, though. Back in 2022, Pluto VR launched its PlutoSphere service for the Quest. Although it was short-lived and removed from the storefront by early 2024 due to Meta’s crackdown on unapproved cloud streaming apps, it paved the way for others.
In a favorable turn of events, Microsoft was allowed to bring its Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass offerings to the Quest by late 2023.
