As we eagerly count down the days to the PC launch of The Last of Us Part II Remastered on April 3, Naughty Dog is gearing up to ensure players are more than ready for this gripping adventure. Whether this is your debut expedition with Ellie and Abby’s captivating stories, or you’re revisiting these tales through the new medium, we’ve packed this release with numerous enhancements and fresh content to enrich your experience.
### What’s New for PC Players?
The Remastered version for PC brings along all the exciting updates that accompanied the PlayStation 5 version launched in 2024. Get ready to dive into the roguelike survival mode, No Return, rock out in Guitar Free Play, and indulge in hours of insightful developer commentary.
In collaboration with our partners at Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy, we’ve tailored Part II Remastered for the PC platform, adding various quality-of-life adjustments to really capture the wintry peaks of Jackson, Wyoming, and the rain-washed streets of Seattle, Washington, in breathtaking clarity.
This PC edition is finely optimized, boasting features like:
– Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation support.
– AMD’s FSR 3.1 and FSR 4 support, featuring upscaling and frame generation.
– Options for VSync and framerate caps, including the ability to play with an uncapped framerate.
– DirectStorage support and additional enhancements.
In addition, we’ve built this version with specific PC features, allowing for greater customization with adjustable texture quality, LOD distance range, volumetric quality, shadow quality, ambient occlusion, reflection quality, and more.
PC players will delight in enhanced Ultrawide monitor support, allowing the majestic vistas of Jackson and the hard-edged streets of Seattle to unfold in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and even 48:9 resolutions for those using triple-monitor setups. Every pivotal moment between Ellie and Abby is brought to life in stunning 4K, with the option to use either your preferred controller or keyboard and mouse setup while getting lost in the narrative through immersive 3D audio.
A host of control customization options await you, including full remapping, primary and secondary bindings, as well as an adaptive mode for mixed keyboard and controller input. DualSense controllers bring the game to life with full haptic feedback, enhancing every swing, shot, and stealthy takedown.
As teams from Naughty Dog and our partners fine-tune this version, expect numerous bug fixes and improvements, all designed to deliver the smoothest gameplay possible. There’s an array of graphics settings to suit every setup, from high-end rigs to more portable gaming devices, ensuring everyone can enjoy the best visuals possible.
### Fresh No Return Thrills
To coincide with the PC launch, new content is being added to the crowd-pleasing No Return mode. Fans can look forward to welcoming new playable characters, including Bill and Marlene from The Last of Us Part I. Each brings their own unique playstyle—Bill is the rugged “Smuggler,” armed with a custom pump shotgun and equipped to handle melee attacks, whereas Marlene’s “Risk Taker” style ensures every encounter is a gamble with high stakes and potential high rewards.
Moreover, we’ve expanded No Return with four new maps, such as Overlook, the high-altitude battlefield above Seattle; School, the eerie abandoned elementary haunt; Streets, nestled in the overgrown locale of Hillcrest; and Nest, a notorious hideout for those daring to play as Abby. Following the PS5 release last year, the response to No Return has been amazing, and we hope these new additions keep the excitement rolling.
Fear not, PlayStation 5 players—this content isn’t just for PC. You’ll be able to access this new No Return content plus new Trophies and bug fixes through the free downloadable 2.0.0 patch, available as the PC version launches.
### PlayStation Network Perks
Finally, PC players can reap the benefits of PSN integration. While having a PlayStation Network account isn’t mandatory, those who log in will snag 50 bonus in-game points to spend, along with an exclusive Ellie skin inspired by our next PS5 title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This skin will also be available for PS5 players via the 2.0 patch.
The anticipation is real! We’re thrilled for PC gamers to step into this extraordinary world and for all players to dive into our latest offerings. Pre-orders for The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC are now live on Steam and the Epic Games Store, so gear up for the April 3 release!
