With the recent buzz about the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch, there was considerable anticipation for its preorders in the U.S. and Canada. However, the excitement hit a bump when Nintendo had to delay pre-orders due to complications related to tariffs. Thankfully, after some intervention with the timing of these tariffs, Nintendo has finally confirmed when eager gamers can get ready to secure their own consoles.
Mark your calendars for April 24, 2025, when preorders will officially go live. The great news? The price tag remains untouched: $449.99 for just the Switch 2, and $499.99 for the bundle deal with Mario Kart World.
As for the games, they’re holding steady too. Expect to pay $79.99 for Mario Kart World and $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza upon release.
Now, onto some slightly less thrilling news. Prices for the Switch 2 accessories will see some adjustments from their earlier announced prices from April 2nd. This change is attributed to “market conditions,” a term we’re all too familiar with by now.
Let’s face it, while price tweaks can happen any time, the current economic climate in the U.S. makes this a particularly ripe possibility.
Despite that, there’s a silver lining here. At least we now know when we can join the race to grab the Nintendo Switch 2. Make sure you head over to Nintendo.com to register for a preorder if you’re eligible, so you’ve got a shot against those pesky scalpers when the time comes next Thursday.
