Word’s out that a movie adaptation of the freshly released game, Split Fiction, is currently in the works. Variety broke the news, revealing that Story Kitchen is spearheading this project, tasked with assembling the cast, writers, and director. The team at Story Kitchen seems to have their hands full, as they’re also behind the adaptation of Hazelight’s previous hit, It Takes Two, which is underway with Amazon, alongside projects like Toejam and Earl, Slim Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
It seems the buzz around this adaptation is high, with offers flying in from several major Hollywood studios eager to get on board.
Split Fiction made a dramatic entrance into the gaming scene this March, racking up one million sales in just its first 48 hours. By the end of the week, that number had doubled to two million. Hazelight was ecstatic about the reception, expressing their surprise and gratitude on Bluesky: “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing. Thank you to all of our new and old fans – we love how excited you are for our game.”
Meanwhile, the movie version of It Takes Two continues to build excitement, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson already attached to the project. Plus, the script is in the capable hands of Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the talented duo behind Sonic the Hedgehog.
