Glover, developed by Interactive Studios alongside Piko Interactive and QUByte Interactive, is finally available on the Nintendo Switch. We’ve taken an in-depth look at this nostalgic title in our review of Glover!
Interactive Studios, which has also been known as Dizzy Entertainment and Blitz Games, was brought into existence by the Oliver Twins—Andrew and Philip Oliver—in 1990. These names might ring a bell if you’ve ever enjoyed the timeless Dizzy games. In this puzzling 3D platformer, you step into the shoes of Glover, tackling various levels with the goal of guiding your trusty ball from point A to point B.
Back in 1998, Glover was released in partnership with Hasbro Interactive for the Nintendo 64 and later on the PlayStation under the Atari Interactive brand. Fast-forward to 2025, and QUByte Interactive’s QUByte Classic series is reintroducing Glover to gamers on the Nintendo Switch. It’s time to revisit the magical world of the Crystal Kingdom!
The adventure kicks off with a magical misstep. A wizard’s botched potion causes an explosive mix-up, scattering the kingdom’s precious crystals and sending Glover flying. In a quick thinking move, Glover uses a spell to turn those crystals into rubber balls to safely bounce instead of shattering. Glover is one of two magical gloves originally aiding the wizard, the other being Glovel. Unfortunately, Glovel ends up corrupted by dark magic, transforming into the mischievous Cross-Stitch.
Throughout your quest, you’ll traverse six unique worlds, each with their own theme: Atlantis, Carnival, Pirates, Prehistoric, Fortress of Fear, and the intriguing Out of This World. Achieving a 100% completion rate requires you to tackle all levels in every world, gather all collectible Garibs, and conquer six bonus stages—one for each world.
When diving into the game, you’ll navigate Glover with the left analog stick, while the right stick adjusts your view. Need a closer look? Use the X button to zoom. You can leap and double jump with the A button and dribble the ball using B. Perform a ground pound by hitting ZR when in the air. Stand atop the ball with L, and press-and-hold B to grab and throw it. A longer jump comes with holding A for a nice ball slap. Changing the ball’s form is possible by hitting R, with the rubber ball being the standard choice. Discover more ball types as you play to overcome different challenges!
As mentioned before, Glover had its initial release run during the late ’90s but is now getting a revival on the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to QUByte Interactive, players can enjoy this classic yet quirky journey back through the Crystal Kingdom.
For those eager to wrap up the game, there’s an Extras section you’ll want to visit. Dive deep into the Gallery to feast your eyes on artistic creations including boss designs, character sketches, and conceptual art. All this fun and nostalgia can be yours for $19.99.
