This week’s new game releases swing between spine-chilling and delightful. Sometimes a game’s storyline might seem a bit gloomy at first glance, but the gameplay itself can be surprisingly uplifting. That’s certainly true for a couple of this week’s arrivals. However, that’s not the case with The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, a game fully embracing its somber narrative. There are brighter moments to be found in it, though, which technically gives it a pass. Just don’t dive in expecting 40 hours of fun strumming along with Ellie’s guitar.
Koira arrives just ahead of the other Thursday titles. It invites players to traverse a forest accompanied by a lost puppy—ponder too much on this lovable tale’s direction, and you might find yourself misty-eyed. In contrast, Naughty Dog’s grim, post-apocalyptic shooter refuses to let players breathe for even 45 minutes without tossing something dreadful their way. On the same day, Sand shakes up the extraction shooter scene by adding spider tanks to the mix. Meanwhile, Caligo and Sephiria, despite their seemingly pleasant appearances, might not be quite as friendly as they look. However, one of them does let you step into the paws of a bunny warrior.
Here’s a look at the game releases we’re most excited about for the week of March 31.
