Gaijin Entertainment, the creative minds behind War Thunder from back in 2013, have just dropped exciting news for fans of aerial combat games. Their new VR game, Aces of Thunder, will soon be taking flight on the PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets, expected to launch sometime this year.
Originally announced in 2023, Aces of Thunder was initially earmarked for a release in the last quarter of 2024. The game promises to bring to life a collection of the world’s most iconic World War aircraft on both SteamVR and PSVR 2.
In this upcoming release, Gaijin is showcasing a diverse lineup of planes. Gamers won’t only have the chance to fly a variety of classic WWII-era aircraft but will now also get to pilot some legendary planes from the WWI era.
According to the studio, this includes famous fighters like the Fokker Dr.I, known for being the Red Baron’s plane of choice, and the SPAD S.XIII, piloted by René Fonck, one of the Allies’ most celebrated aces. These aircraft will feature meticulously detailed cockpits, historically accurate weapons, and realistic flight mechanics, promising players an unrivaled immersive experience.
On top of those WWI classics, Aces of Thunder’s hangar boasts an impressive roster of WWII planes. Players can look forward to taking control of legendary aircraft such as the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190 fighters, the robust Soviet IL-2 attack plane, the nimble British Spitfire, and the agile Japanese A6M3 Zero.
While the exact release date for Aces of Thunder remains a mystery, Gaijin has hinted to Road to VR that the launch is now anticipated for 2025. Until then, eager fans can add it to their wishlists on Steam and the PlayStation Store for PSVR 2.
As of now, the pricing details are still under wraps. However, rest assured, we’ll be keeping a vigilant eye out for any updates. So, gear up and get ready for an exhilarating sky-high adventure with Aces of Thunder!
